Mass Contact Programme for Soil Testing and Veterinary Care



         KVK Thoothukudi has organized Mass Contact Soil Testing and Veterinary Health Campaign in the adopted villages. The campaign was conducted to create rapport in the KVK adopted villages and KVK mandatory activities were explained to the farmers. Then awareness was created on the importance of soil testing and demonstration was done on soil sampling. Along with this advisory services were provided and IPM aspects were sensitized to the farmers. During the campaign animals were dewormed and artificial insemination was done.

         On 11-6-19 campaign was conducted in Rajapudhukudi village. About 50 soil samples were collected and 891 animals were treated. Dr.BalaMurugan Veterinary Assistant Surgeon with his team from Ayyanaroothu participated in this campaign, around 90 farmers benefited from this campaign.

Next to this on 13-6-19 campaign was conducted in K.Kumarapuram village. 40 soil samples were collected and 400 animals were treated. Dr.Karuppasamy Veterinary Assistant Surgeon with his team from Vilathikulam participated in this campaign, around 52 farmers benefited from this campaign.

        On 25-6-19 campaign was conducted in Villisery village. 650 soil samples were collected and 1040 animals were treated. Veterinary Assistant Surgeons Dr.Selvi from Villiseri and Dr.Bala Murugan from Ayyanaroothu along with his team participated in this campaign, around 135 farmers benefited from this campaign.

        On 27-6-19 campaign was conducted in Kollankinaru village. 40 soil samples were collected and 201 animals were treated. Dr.Kathiresan Veterinary Assistant Surgeon from Ottanatham along with his team participated in this campaign, around 32 farmers benefited from this campaign.

         All together in these four campaign convergence with Animal Husbandry department was made to create awareness among the participants on veterinary health care. Major health care problem faced by the livestock farmers were noted down and attended by the veterinary assistant surgeon and their team. Since majority of the farmers own livestock along with farm land. They showed good interest in bringing their soil samples for analysis. The farmers who have visited the camp were also highlighted on various activities of KVK planned in their Village.
